I've raved about Bodegas Carrau Amat Tannat before, but now in stores is the lower priced Bodegas Tannat Reserva ($). If the Amat is BIG, then the Reserva is their medium.
This wine has moderate fruit aromas and a spicy zing. It has firm tannins and a pleasant, mellow finish. Think of this as Amat Lite.

I like this tannat wine and would reccomend it, even though its tannins may be a little gruff for some.
Also pleasant is the Carrau sauvignon blanc "sur-lie". You might detect a hint of effervescence with this one, and it has nice freshness leaning on the more light citrus end of the fruit spectrum.
